NATIONAL NEWS TELLS ME that Ms. Seltzer’s “foundation” has also been discovered to be fake — not surprising. I also read that, luckily, the publisher didn’t shell out too big of an advance — under $100k — which I believe Ms. Seltzer will have to give back…even though we know she’s probably already spent it. How much do you want to bet that, when this is all over, Ms. Seltzer changes her name and disappears, only to come back with some other scheme? Or course, she’d probably have to have major plastic surgery to pull it off, so that might be out of the question. I suppose Hustler might be willing to do a spread. Maybe she can get a small nest egg that way. Nasty of me to say so? I suppose. I just don’t like shysters — at all — though, by some of the comments going around in the twitter theaters, there are quite a few wannabes who just wail about the fact that she got caught. (Well, I hope you do, too, if you try it, lads and ladies, BEFORE your schemes wind up costing anyone.)

IN WRITERLY NEWS, one of the members of my peer group has started a new book that’s just wonderful. It’s about a boy and his grandpa — scary, tense, and poignant. …Come to think of it, three of us have written or are writing books about young men growing up. Two are hilarious, if embarrassing – two novels of a series; the one I mention above really makes you sweat, and then, of course, there’s mine about a child murderer, which is presently out searching for a spokesperson.
